Description
Description — CV-22 Mods
The CV-22 is the Air Force Special Operations Forces (SOF) variant of the joint multi-mission V-22 tilt rotor aircraft. The CV-22 provides long-range, high-speed infiltration, exfiltration, personnel recovery, and resupply to Special Forces teams in hostile, denied, and politically sensitive areas. The Navy is the lead service for the Joint V-22 program. The Joint Program Manager is responsible for managing all variants of the V-22. Department of the Navy (DoN) funds the development of the MV-22 and CMV-22. The Air Force funds the service-common portion of the CV-22 while United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) funds the development and procurement of SOF peculiar systems. Each Service and Foreign Military Service participates in cost share for non-recurring engineering. The designed service life for the aircraft is 10,000 flying hours over 30 years. Program of record is 56 CV-22s. Funding for this exhibit is contained in PE 0401318F. Funding may be used to address Diminishing Manufacturing Source (DMS) and component obsolescence issues. This funding may include emerging modification requirements to support Program Support Costs (PSC), Advisory and Assistant Service (A&AS), system integration lab, trainers, equipment and other government cost. This program has associated RDT&E, AF funding in FY 2026 providing for systems engineering activities for Airframe Enhancements and Enhanced Self-Deployment Capabilities. FY 2026 RDT&E, AF funding continues to fund these efforts. The FY 2026 request was reduced by $0.917 million for Advisory and Assistance Services to promote efficiencies and advance the policies of the Administration in alignment with Executive Order 14222, "Implementing the President's Department of Government Efficiency Cost Efficiency Initiative."

Justification — CV-22 Mods
The FY 2026 request for CV-22 includes $78,713 thousand of discretionary and $100,329 thousand of mandatory (reconciliation) for a total of $179,042 thousand. The mandatory funds capability and survivability modification efforts. Further information for this reconciliation request is provided in Section 20007 (Air Superiority) of the Reconciliation Exhibit. The primary modification budgeted in FY 2026 is the Block C/20 Upgrade that primarily focuses on an improved proprotor gearbox (PRGB) which is triple-melted steel that will reduce the likelihood of material defects in critical gears and bearings. PRGB enhancements vastly improves safety, reliability and operational readiness for the entire V-22 enterprise.
