Description — Battlefield Airborne Communication Node (BACN)
Battlefield Airborne Communication Node (BACN) provides a flexible, long-endurance, responsive airborne communications capability. BACN provides a dedicated airborne capability to conduct voice bridge translation, Tactical Data Link (TDL) gateway and TDL relay functions for beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) data communications. The BACN airborne payload is currently controlled by ground stations that are comprised of multiple support elements: a Payload Control Element - Launch (PCE-L) and Payload Control Element - Mission (PCE-M). The Rapidly Deployable Payload Control Element (RD-PCE) shelter equipment procurement has shifted to a more modular palletized equipment procurement. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, power generators, NIPR/SIPR connectivity, lightweight mobile shelters, HVAC system, various radios, antennas, Tactical Common Data Link equipment, and ancillary equipment. This effort meets Agile Combat Employment (ACE) concept for rapid employment in austere environments. The RD-PCE provides a capability that is lightweight, transportable, and is in a rapidly deployable configuration. The RD-PCE is designed to meet worldwide deployability which meets the needs of Combatant Commanders in any AoR. RD-PCE components are tailored for each individual deployment and can be easily adjusted for each mission set. This effort procures Rapidly Deployable Payload Control Element (RD-PCE) hardware/software and other equipment modifications as well as shelters and equipment required to build out, support and secure or modify BACN Payload control necessary to meet operational requirements. - FY24: No further RD-PCE funds are required in FY24. - FY25: No further RD-PCE funds are required in FY25. - FY26: No further RD-PCE funds are required in FY26. No FY26 funds are requested for PE 0207610F.
