Description

Mission NAVFAC Expeditionary Advanced Manufacturing

Advanced Manufacturing (AdvM) : In accordance with the National Defense Strategy (NDS), A Design for Maintaining Maritime Superiority 2.0, and Navy Facility Command (NAVFAC) Strategic Design 2.0, this program provides the Navy with new capabilities to enable resilient and agile logistics thru advanced manufacturing (AdvM). Investing in AdvM enhances the fleet's ability to conduct operational logistics in a contested environment and ensures logistics supportability across the austere distributed battlespace. AdvM technology results in increased operational availability, on demand production of critical systems, and supply chain cost savings. This effort will identify critical parts suitable for AdvM production in the field; identify AdvM systems appropriate to produce and certify critical parts in the field; analyze and identify AdvM system implications across doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership and education, personnel, facilities and policy (DOTMLPF-P); conduct end-user training, field experimentation, and fleet exercise technology insertion to validate AdvM system capability and systems integration issues.

Mission NAVWAR Digital Integration Advanced Manufacturing

The NAVWAR Digital Integration Advanced Manufacturing project provides Navy Advanced Manufacturing (AdvM) technology aligns to Chief of Naval operations (CNO) priorities to deliver revolutionary capabilities to improve fleet readiness. These enterprise solutions will provide the foundation to (a) enhance warfighter capability by implementing disruptive AdvM technologies such as Additive Manufacturing (AM), Subtractive Manufacturing, 3D CNC milling, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Lathing, and Robotic welding; (b) increase readiness through low-volume production of hard-to-source items; and (c) improve warfighting capacity by enabling low volume custom production at or near the point of need. Specific efforts include the development of the Digital Advanced Manufacturing Ecosystem (DAME) to address the design and certification of AM capabilities for both afloat and ashore, development of Cyber Security Risk Management Profiles for devices and applications on operational networks, definition of a secure Technical Data Package to describe components that can be digitally manufactured, and the development of an overarching, enterprise-level Digital Manufacturing Thread (device management, digital rights management, licensing, configuration management, data storage rule/access and application programming interfaces).

Mission (U)NAVY ADVANCED MANUFACTURING

Project 0311 - NAVAIR Advanced/Additive Manufacturing provides for the development of the Advanced/Additive Manufacturing/3D printing process, material verification and qualification to support deployment of Advanced/Additive Manufacturing (AM) capability to Fleet Depot and Level II Maintenance level facilities, as well as provides for the qualification, validation, testing and incorporation of private industry Additive Manufacturing initiatives across the Naval Aviation enterprise to include NAVSUP and DLA. Additionally, Advanced/Additive Manufacturing funds Cooperative Research and Development Activities (CRADAs) support with industry partners and next generation AM. This effort will fund the development, test, and approval of additional polymer material data curves, polymer material certification for aviation applications, and system documentation/training updates of additional high strength polymers for use on deployed AM systems. This will support deployed systems in producing critical parts for aircraft, support equipment and aircraft launch and recovery equipment, while enhancing Naval Aviation readiness and lethality allowing point of need part manufacturing to mitigate supply chain gaps, dramatically decreasing Mean Logistics Delay Times (MLDT) and increasing aircraft availability. Project 0312 - The NAVSEA Additive Manufacturing (AM) program focuses on development and use of AM equipment for Naval applications in land-based and afloat environments, including system performance requirements, shipboard integration requirements and considerations, material selection, design optimization, equipment and component certification, and digital engineering integration. Efforts also include consideration of AM across a wide variety of potential applications ensuring additively manufactured components can meet mission requirements and that system/component technical requirements are updated to leverage AM. Advanced/Additive Manufacturing (AM) - Transfer to BA 4, PE: 0604286N Navy Advanced/Advanced Manufacturing PROJ 0311 NAVAIR Aviation Advanced Manufacturing starting in FY 2026 from PE: 0605013N Information Technology Development Project 2903 NAVAIR IT. Provides for the development of the Advanced/Additive Manufacturing/3D printing process, material verification and qualification to support deployment of Advanced/Additive Manufacturing (AM) capability to Fleet Depot and Level II Maintenance level facilities, as well as provides for the qualification, validation, testing and incorporation of private industry Additive Manufacturing initiatives across the Naval Aviation enterprise to include NAVSUP and Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).
