Description
Description — F-16 Post Production Support
The F-16 is a multi-role fighter that comprises roughly 40% of the USAF fighter fleet with over 830 aircraft supporting a variety of air-to-air and air-to-surface missions, such as offensive and defensive counterair, close air support, forward air control, air interdiction (day/night and all-weather) and Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD)/Destruction of Enemy Air Defenses (DEAD). F-16 posture and readiness combined with low operating costs deliver affordable capacity for the USAF and partner nations. Its capabilities continue to evolve, capitalizing upon advancements made in computers, avionics systems, engines, and structural technologies. These advancements meet emerging warfighter requirements to combat current and evolving enemy threats. This request will provide funding for F-16 support equipment, facilities support, interim contractor support and production tooling storage management. In FY25, a Congressional Add provided a $50M increase in order to procure F-16 Simulators for ANG. Funding for this exhibit is contained in PE 0207133F
Justification
Justification — F-16 Post Production Support
FY26 funding is requested for but not limited to, continuation of prime contractor post production support, procurement of deferred peculiar ground support equipment, peculiar training equipment, peculiar support equipment, mission support, interim contract support for F-16 Modification programs: Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA), Modular Mission Computer/Programmable Display Generator (MMC/PDG), Comm Suite Upgrade, AGCAS, Secure Mission Data Systems (SMDS), and Simulators. Funding for F-16 Post Production Support is also identified in F01600. The program will work to align these two lines of funding in future budgets. The Production Tooling Storage Management contract is essential to the F-16 Program as it requires specialized engineering services to ensure continued fleet support capability during, and beyond production lines. The USG stores tooling identified as required to be re-utilized to manufacture spares, support aircraft modifications, or other purposes. It would require millions of dollars to re-manufacture these tools and the delivery lead-time of the required tool/part would take several years to reproduce. The requirement is to maintain the Electronic Tool Inventory Management System (eTIMS) in cooperation with the Lexes Inc. and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Inc, as well as the actual tear-down, shipping and storage of unique aircraft manufacturing equipment. Funding may be used to address Diminishing Manufacturing Sources (DMS) issues.
