Description
Description — VC-25A Mod
This line item funds aircraft modernization efforts for two (2) VC-25A presidential support aircraft, a commercial derivative of the commercial Boeing 747-200. The aircraft are commonly referred to as "Air Force One." The aircraft were purchased in FY87, modified by Boeing to meet presidential requirements, and delivered in August 1990. These on-going modifications are to extend the service life until the VC-25B aircraft are fielded. Pursuant to the provisions of section 2244a of title 10, United States Code, the Secretary of the Air Force determined the following capabilities/modifications are in the national security interest of the United States: Low Latency Worldwide Data Connections, Aggregated Throughput Bandwidth, Non-Space/Global Position System (GPS) Based Dependent Wideband Data Service, Multi-Role Tactical Common Data Link (MR-TCDL), and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS). Service bulletins and Low Cost Modifications are necessary for continuing Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) airworthiness certification while improving flight safety, reliability, and maintainability. Funding may be used to address Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) issues. Funding for this exhibit contained in PE 0401314F. In FY 2026, BLI C02500, VC-25A, efforts were transferred to BLI OSAEA0, OSA-EA Modifications, in order to consolidate Budget Line Items for increased funding flexibility.
