Description SMALL UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS

This funding is realigned to I47000 - SMALL UNMANNED AERIAL SYSTEMS The Family of Small Uncrewed Aircraft systems are critical to the Army's Transformation in Contact. These systems ensure Army formations have the best existing and emerging technology at Battalion and below to allow ground-based forces to project power from land into other domains to defeat highly capable enemies, secure terrain, and consolidate gains. The Rucksack Portable Uncrewed Aircraft System (RPUAS) Family of Small Uncrewed Aircraft System (FoSUAS) requirements are transitioning to the Joint Small Uncrewed Aircraft System sUAS Capability Development Document (J-sUAS CDD) to solve current and emergent operational gaps by incorporating Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) including swappable payloads, advanced autonomy and software scalability. These systems provide battalion and below ground maneuver elements with critical situational awareness and enhanced force protection. The systems provide an organic and responsive reconnaissance and targeting capability with real-time Full Motion Video and sensor data. Each system will include aircraft, ground support equipment, ground control station and Uncrewed Vehicle Control (UVC) software. The Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR) provides organic maneuver platoons an uncrewed air vehicle designed to support Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition (RSTA). The system has an aircraft weight of less than 5 lbs, a range of 3-5 km, and an endurance of 30 minutes. The system includes modular payloads, obstacle avoidance, target recognition, automated following, and networked capability. The Company Level Small Uncrewed Aircraft System Directed Requirement (SUAS DR) provides intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capability within the Brigade Combat Teams. The systems will have 10km range and 8-hour endurance. System will include Assured Positioning, Navigation and Timing (APNT), Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR), laser targeting, and kinetic architectures in a contested environment. The Company Level SUAS DR is intended to inform the requirement for the Medium Range Reconnaissance (MRR) Annex to the J-sUAS CDD. The Long Range Reconnaissance (LRR) System will provide organic maneuver battalions an uncrewed air vehicle designed to support RSTA efforts. The system will have an aircraft weight of less than 55 lbs., a range of 40-60 km and endurance of 5-10 hours. System will include APNT, EO/IR, laser targeting, and kinetic architectures in a contested environment. Purpose Built Attritable System (PBAS) provides organic maneuver platoons an uncrewed air vehicle designed to support the ability to achieve lethal effects. PBAS shall have a range of at least 2 km and 15 minutes of endurance. The PBAS system consists of First Person Viewer (FPV) goggles, controller, leader display, two 10" air vehicles and four 5" air vehicles with modular payload(s) to include ability to integrate and employ a variety of lethal/non-lethal armaments and munitions. FY 2026 funding was transferred from Budget Activity (BA) 1, A12500 SMALL UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS to BA 6, I47000 SMALL UNMANNED AERIAL SYSTEMS in support of Agile Portfolio Management.

FY 2026 funding was transferred from Budget Activity (BA) 1, A12500 SMALL UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS to BA 6, I47000 SMALL UNMANNED AERIAL SYSTEMS in support of Agile Portfolio Management. FY 2026 Base procurement dollars in the amount of $250.141 million supports SRR, JTAARS, Company Level SUAS DR, LRR and PBAS. $34.368 million for procurement of 265 SRR Tranche 2 Systems (system consists of 2 air vehicles, 1 Handheld Ground Control Station (HGCS), Digital Data Link (DDL) and EO/IR Payload) and 500 PBAS systems (system consists of 2 air vehicles (10 inch), 4 air vehicles (5 inch), 1 HGCS, 1 smart charger, batteries (5 inch and 10 inch), flyaway costs (initial spares, technical support, logistics (fielding), training, and PM support), and software maintenance costs. FY 2025 to FY 2026 funding increase is to support Army requirements. (A12511) $90.582 million for procurement of 85 Company Level SUAS DR Systems (system consists of 2 air vehicles, 1 HGCS, and payloads), flyaway costs (initial spares, training, support activities, PM support, development and qualification), other system procurement, and software maintenance costs. FY 2025 to FY 2026 funding increase is to support Army requirements. (A12513) $125.192 million for procurement of 101 LRR Systems (system consists of 2 air vehicles, 2 HGCS, Digital Data Link (DDL) and Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) Payload) and flyaway costs (initial spares, training, systems engineering and program management). In accordance with Section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (P.L. 110-181), this item is necessary for use by the active and reserve components of the Armed Forces for homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses and providing military support to civil authorities.
