Description — Artillery Propellants, Fuzes and Primers, All
(E27501) Artillery Propellants, Fuzes and Primers, All Types. A portion of this funding line is directly aligned to the Army's Cannon Transformation Strategy. (E27319) M119 RED BAG PROPELLING CHARGE The M119 Propelling Charge is a "High Zone" red bag charge for firing in 155mm Howitzers containing M185 and M199 cannon tubes. It is a single increment charge and contains 20.9 pounds of M6 propellant, lead foil, flash reducer and a base igniter pad comprised of Clean Burning Ignitor (CBI) powder and a center spot of black powder. It is designed to achieve ranges from 10 to 18 kilometers. This item is Code A, approved for service use. (E27502) ARTY, 155MM PROP CHG, MACS M231 SERIES The Modular Artillery Charge System (MACS), M231 "Low Zone" is intended for use with all US 155mm cannon field artillery systems in use and development. The M231 is a "low-zone" increment designed to achieve ranges from 3.0 to 12 kilometers. Each MACS increment includes propellant, an ignition system, and a combustible case. Packaging permits long-term storage and helps protect the items from unplanned stimuli. This item is Code A, approved for service use. (E62208) ARTY, FUZE PD M739A1 The M739A1 Point Detonating (PD) and Delay Fuze is the Army's preferred, primary fuze for 105mm and 155mm projectiles to address point detonating/delay artillery functions. The M739A1 fuze contains an Impact Delay Module (IDM) assembly. The IDM provides fuze initiation delay based upon the completion of mechanical actions caused by projectile deceleration and will function immediately after passing through the target. This item is Code A, approved for service use. (E63000), PRIMER, 155MM ARTY PERCUSSION, M82 SERIES The M82 Percussion Primer is intended for use with all United States 155mm cannon field artillery systems. The M82 Series Percussion Primer is used to initiate the burning of propellant charges and consists of a cylindrical brass case with an extraction flange, which contains a base plunger, an ignition element which contains Primer #34 and a container loaded with 22 grains of black powder. This item is Code A, approved for service use. (E99200) FUZE, 155MM ARTY ELECTRIC TIME (ET), M762 SERIES The M762A1 Electronic Time (ET) Fuze is used with the 105mm and 155mm cargo carrying artillery projectiles. The M762A1 retains the existing dual setting capability: (1) Handset without need for any tool, and (2) remote inductive setting for higher rates of fire. In addition to the US requirements, the fuze complies with NATO Rationalization, Standardization and Interoperability (RSI) agreements for artillery weapon systems. This item is code A, approved for service use. (E99250) ARTY, FUZE, PRECISION GUIDANCE KIT (PGK) The Precision Guidance Kit (PGK) is a course correcting fuze that provides precision accuracy and efficiency for 155mm M795, M549A1, and M1128 High Explosive (HE) projectiles by eliminating a portion of the inherent errors associated with ballistic firing solutions which effectively reduces the number of projectiles required to execute fire missions. PGK utilizes a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver and internal Guidance and Navigation Computer to accomplish its mission with point detonating and proximity fuzing functions. PGK is compatible with the M777A2 Lightweight 155mm Howitzer (LW155), the M109A6 Paladin Howitzer, and the M109A7 Paladin PIM Howitzer. The PGK M1156A1 adds XM1113 compatibility and is M-Code capable. M1156A1 has been qualified for use by FMS customers in 52 caliber weapon systems. The M1156E5, to become M1156A2 post Type Classification (TC), will include anti-jam (AJ) capability in a degraded GPS environment. PGK supports the Army's Cannon Transformation Strategy and future 155mm projectiles. This item is Code A, approved for service use. (E99909) ARTY, FUZE MOFA M782 SERIES The Multi-Option Fuze for Artillery (MOFA) is compatible with all bursting ammunition fired from all 105mm and 155mm cannon systems including M119, M109, and M777 series firing platforms and cannon assemblies. The MOFA provides proximity, precision time, delay and impact functions in a single fuze. The inductive fuze set feature optimizes MOFA for use with automated ammunition handling equipment. The MOFA combines proven subassemblies such as the safe and arm device with reserve batteries and a proximity sensor technology to affordably achieve enhanced performance, predictability, and safety. This item is Code A, approved for service use. (ER8021) ARTY, 155MM PROP CHG, MACS M232 SERIES The Modular Artillery Charge System (MACS) M232 "High Zone" is intended for use with all United States 155mm cannon field artillery systems. The M232 "High Zone" increment is designed to achieve ranges from 10 to 40 kilometers. Each MACS increment includes propellant, an ignition system, and a combustible case. Performance enhancing additives are included in the M232 "High Zone" increment. Packaging permits long-term storage and helps protect the items from unplanned stimuli. This item is Code A, approved for service use.
Justification
Justification — Artillery Propellants, Fuzes and Primers, All
FY 2026 Base Budget supports critical Army Title 10 war reserve/operational, training, and test requirements in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction 3000.04 (Munitions Requirements Process) and Army Regulation 5-13 (Total Army Munitions Requirements Process and Prioritization System). War reserve requirements support Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) approved Combatant Commander Operational Plans, Homeland Defense, and other OSD-directed missions. Training requirements support individual and collective training of Active and Reserve Component forces at Army schools, home station, and the combined training centers. Test requirements support the development, fielding, safety, and quality assurance of Army munitions and equipment throughout their life cycle. In accordance with Section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (P.L. 110-181), this item is necessary for use by the active and reserve components of the Armed Forces for homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities. FY 2026 Total Base dollars in the amount of $168.737 million supports the procurement of 91,295 fuzes and 142,705 propelling charges. (E27319) M119 RED BAG PROPELLING CHARGE This is a training standard item used in training and combat. There is no FY 2026 budget request for this item. (E27502) ARTY, 155MM PROP CHG, MACS M231 Series This is a training standard item used in training and combat. FY 2026 request supports annual training and builds a war reserve inventory in accordance with the Army's procurement goals. FY 2026 Total Base dollars in the amount of $37.434 million supports the procurement of 68,701 charges. TYPE CLASSIFICATION DATE: 1999 (E62208) ARTY, FUZE PD M739 Series This is a training standard item used in training and combat. FY 2026 request supports annual training and builds a war reserve inventory in accordance with the Army's procurement goals. FY 2026 Total Base dollars in the amount of $8.761 million supports production of 55,408 fuzes. TYPE CLASSIFICATION: 1982 (E63000), PRIMER, 155MM ARTY PERCUSSION, M82 SERIES This is a training standard item used in training and combat. There is no FY 2026 budget request for this item (E99200) FUZE, 155MM ARTY ELECTRIC TIME (ET), M762 SERIES This is a training standard item used in training and combat. The request supports annual training and builds a war reserve inventory in accordance with the Army's procurement goals. FY 2026 Total Base dollars in the amount of $ 19.910 million supports production of 23,450 fuzes. E99200 is a new start in FY 2026. TYPE CLASSIFICATION DATE: 1988 (E99250) ARTY, FUZE, PRECISION GUIDANCE KIT (PGK) This is a critical munition and war reserve item used in both training and combat. FY 2026 request builds a war reserve inventory and supports annual training in accordance with Army's procurement goals. FY 2026 Total Base dollars in the amount of $39.653 million supports the production of 1,234 Precision Guidance Kits that have anti-jam capability in a Global Positioning System (GPS) degraded environment. TYPE CLASSIFICATION DATE: 2015 (E99909) ARTY, FUZE MOFA M782 SERIES This is a training standard item used in training and combat. The FY2026 request supports annual training and builds a war reserve inventory in accordance with the Army's procurement goals. FY2026 Total Base dollars in the amount of $32.137 million supports the procurement of 11,203 fuzes. TYPE CLASSIFICATION: 1999 (ER8021) ARTY, 155MM PROP CHG, MACS M232 SERIES This is a training standard item used in training and combat. FY 2026 request supports annual training and builds a war reserve inventory in accordance with the Army's procurement goals.
