Description
Description — Degraded Visual Environment
Army's current Degraded Visual Environment (DVE) solution is the Degraded Visual Environment Pilotage System (DVEPS). DVEPS provides the aircrew with a visual representation of the physical environment forward of the aircraft through a multi-sensor, fused image of terrain and obstacles for hazard avoidance in austere conditions during all phases of flight. DVE Directed Requirement (DR) #1 (signed 2017): A joint effort between PEO AVN and SOCOM that fielded DVEPS to 15 HH-60M AC. AC were fielded in FY21 and continue to collect flight and RAM data. DVE DR#2 (signed 2022): Decision was made by the General Officer Steering Committee (GOSC) to readdress scope of Requirement. Upon receipt of revised Requirement, funding will be repurposed to field DVEPS to 12 UH-60M AC. The DVE Inc 1 A-CDD will enable rapid prototype delivery of enhanced DVE, Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) and Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) compliant systems for the enduring fleet while informing system development requirements for the future fleet (FLRAA). This effort has not received funding.
