Description

Description Training Support Equipment

Commander, Naval Education and Training Command stated Battle Stations-21 (BST-21) is a mandatory graduation requirement. Additionally, BST-21 is a Fleet requirement for Accessions Level Training (Block 0) of the Ready Relevant Learning (RRL) initiative. BST-21 is a facility that represents a 210-foot-long Arleigh Burke class destroyer. It is the culminating training event for Recruit Training Command recruits to participate in a 12-hour simulation of four (4) General Quarters (GQ) scenarios and thirteen (13) shipboard scenarios that include engineering, lookout, and mass casualty drills. [P40A / BST-21 AUDIOVISUAL LIGHTING SYSTEMS]: Funding provided for updates to Audiovisual Lighting Systems to train recruits. [P40A / BST-21 SUPPORT SYSTEM]: Funding also provides for upgrades to operating equipment, software modifications, and UPS subsystem; ocean fill valve, pit sump pumps Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controllers, blocking valve (natural gas) and power panel, pier stores, and tour brief station. [P40A / BST-21 INFORMATION ASSURANCE SOFTWARE MODIFICATION]: Funding provides for BST-21 Information Assurance Software. Software operating system technical refreshes are required every three to five years to maintain DOD Cybersecurity Security Controls Certification. [P40A / BST-21 SCENIC AND PROPS]: The Scenic and Props requirement provides for the life cycle sustainment plan divided into six separate subcategories: pier front, pier stores, ship exterior, 01 level, main deck, and 2nd deck with over 100 hardware items varying in quantities from 1 to 176 to a generic title of "lot". [P40A / BST-21 TRAINING MANAGEMENT SYSYTEM (TMS)]: Funds provided support for BST-21 systems tech refresh for training management systems, as well as software modifications. [P40A / BST-21 SPECIAL EFFECTS]: Funding decreased due to reduced requirements for special effects. [P40A / BST-21 OVERALL SUPERVISORY SYSTEM]: Funding provides refreshes to Overall Supervisory System (OSS) subsystem.

FY26 decreased by $1.861M due to reduced funding required to support tech refreshes to scenic and props as well as special effects. Funding also provides for upgrades to operating equipment, software modifications, and UPS subsystem; provides refreshes to Overall Supervisory System (OSS) subsystem, ocean fill valve, pit sump pumps Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controllers, blocking valve (natural gas) and power panel, pier stores, and tour brief station. Funding also supports tech refresh for training management systems, as well as software modifications.
