Description — Firetrucks & Associated Firefighting Equip
This line is a roll-up of various Fire Trucks. These vehicles are used for fighting fires, and as a safety precaution at airfields and ammunition storage areas. In addition, these vehicles respond to forest fires, train and automobile accidents, and hazardous material incidents. Fire Trucks are essential to all military installations and to many local communities for the preservation of life and property. Non-tactical Fire Trucks are of standard commercial design with only slight modifications. Examples include Structural Pumpers, Ladder Trucks, Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) and Rescue Trucks, Brush Tanker and Wildland Trucks, Airfield Crash Trucks, Mobile Water Supply fire trucks, and Emergency Response Vehicles (ERV). These trucks are needed by all the Installation Management Command (IMCOM) regions, as well as by other Army Commands and units. The Army's fire fighting vehicles are essential to all military installations and to many local communities for preservation of life and property. The Army's fire fighting vehicles not only respond to fires on installations and within local communities, but also to forest fires, aircraft, train, automobile accidents and hazardous material incidents. Additionally, the ERV, Sentinel Command and Control (C2) Vehicle and the VSAT systems provide U.S. Army North with command and control capabilities in support of civil authorities and homeland defense missions. Procurements are made to fill shortages or to replace fire trucks that have reached over-aged or unserviceable condition. Non-tactical fire trucks is a vehicle replacement program that does not have a set Army Acquisition Objective (AAO).
Justification
Justification — Firetrucks & Associated Firefighting Equip
FY 2026 Base procurement dollars in the amount of $39.761 million supports Army installations and units with firefighting protection. A total of 51 Non-Tactical Fire Trucks are needed to replace over-aged trucks and fill existing equipment shortages. Many over age trucks are unsafe, unable to respond to emergencies, and uneconomical to repair. Fire and rescue trucks are needed by all the Installation Management Command (IMCOM) Regions: Atlantic, Central, Pacific, Korea and Europe, as well as other Army Commands and reporting Units. Examples include Structural Pumpers, Ladder Trucks, Airfield Crash Trucks, Brush Trucks (type sizes III and VI), Hazardous Material and Rescue Response trucks, and Mobile Water Supply fire trucks. A final assessment will be made by the program office during the year of execution on the specific Fire Trucks to be procured. It will be based on current operational requirements and priorities reported by the Army Commands. FY 2026 Base procurement dollars also reimburses the Program Management costs to support the procurement of the Non-Tactical Fire Trucks. In accordance with Section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (P.L. 110-181), this item is necessary for use by the active and reserve components of the Armed Forces for homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities.
