Description
Description — Family Of Medium Tactical Veh (FMTV)
Prior year quantities through FY 2010 reflect trucks only. Beginning in FY 2011, quantities reflect trucks and trailers calculated at different unit prices. The Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) is a complete series of trucks and trailers, based on a common chassis, that vary by payload and mission. FMTV performs over 55% of the Army's local, line haul, and unit resupply missions in combat, combat support, and combat service support units. FMTV variants consist of: 4x4 Light Medium Tactical Vehicle (LMTV) Cargo, Shop Van, and Low Velocity Air Drop (LVAD) Light Cargo; 6x6 Medium Tactical Vehicle Standard Wheelbase Cargo, Long Wheelbase Cargo, Tractor, LVAD Medium Cargo, Expansible Van, 5 Ton LVAD Dump, Wrecker, 10 Ton Dump, and 8.8 Ton Load Handling System (LHS); and three types of companion trailers. The FMTV A2 model is an upgraded version in support of the Long Term Armoring Strategy (LTAS) which provides the ability to add armor protection to the FMTV family. The A2 allows Commanders to adapt to new armor technologies, changing missions, and changing threats. The A2 model enhancements allow the ability for increased underbody armor protection, payload, mobility, ride quality, safety, and electrical power generation. Component upgrades include a higher capacity suspension, an expanded data bus, Electronic Stability Control, higher capacity alternator, and an increase in engine power. The A2 family will continue to be based on a common chassis. Commonality between variants significantly reduces operation and maintenance costs. Extended applications of the FMTV include support to other Army requirements such as: Integrated Air & Missile Defense (IAMS); Patriot; Warfighter Information Network - Tactical (WIN-T); Aviation Ground Support Equipment (AGSE); High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS); CAMEL II Unit Water Pod System; Multi-Mission Launcher (MML); Cruise Missile Defense System (CMDS); Air Traffic Control MOTS AN/TSW-7A; Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS); Universal Ground Control Station; Gray Eagle; Chemical & Biological Protection System (M8E1); Harbormaster Command & Control Center (HCCC); Test, Measurement, & Diagnostic Equipment (CALSET); Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS); Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD); and EQ-36 Fire Finder Radar. Prior year quantities through FY 2010 reflect trucks only. D03500 - The M1082 Light Medium Tactical Vehicle (LMTV) Trailer is designed to be towed by the Medium Tactical Vehicle (MTV) family of vehicles. The M1082 is a single axle trailer with a gross payload capacity of 5,000 pounds. The trailer is equipped with an air brake system actuated by the prime mover and a parking brake system to prevent movement of the trailer when not connected to the prime mover. D04500 - The M1095 Medium Tactical Vehicle (MTV) Trailer is designed to be towed by the MTV family of vehicles. The M1095 is a dual axle trailer with a gross payload capacity of 10,000 pounds. The trailer is equipped with an air brake system actuated by the prime mover (truck) and a parking brake system to prevent movement of the trailer when not connected to the truck. The M1147 Load Handling System (LHS) Trailer is designed to be a companion trailer to the M1148 LHS truck. The M1147 is capable of transporting Flatracks M1 & M1077, Container Roll On/Off Platform (CROP) M3 & M3A1, and standard ISO Container/Shelter (8' x 8' x 20') with a 17,600 lb. payload capacity. The M1147 LHS trailers is a wagon type trailer with a turntable style front axle, an Air Ride Suspension with an Air Pressure Sensor Gage for Overload Indication, and an air assist feature that allows one Soldier to couple the trailer tongue to the M1148 LHS truck pintle. D13500 - The Light Medium Tactical Vehicle (LMTV) family includes: The M1078A2 3 Ton Cargo Truck designed to transport cargo and Soldiers. Bed side rails are mounted on hinges and can be lowered to facilitate loading. The cargo bed is also equipped with bench seats for the transport of Soldiers. The M1079A2 LMTV 3 Ton Shop Van is designed to transport cargo and tools and function as a command and control unit configurable to each unit's mission requirements. The van body is equipped with an electrical system, blackout lighting, and heating capabilities with the ability to accept an air conditioning unit. The cab design for both variants is armor-capable under the Army's Long Term Armoring Strategy (LTAS) and designed with integrated armor in difficult to install locations with accessories for the acceptance of "B-kit" armor panels and an Underbody Armor Kit "UAK". These cabs enable the Soldier to adapt the system to the mission, threat, or new armor technologies. Key system components have been upgraded to enable the system to carry the additional armor weight while retaining the 6,000 pound payload. The M1080A2 LMTV 3 Ton Chassis Truck is designed to transport cargo and is utilized by data interchange customers in which that Army program can integrate their system onto the chassis platform. The M1081A2 Light-Medium Cargo Truck, Low Velocity Air Drop (LVAD) is designed to be loaded on and dropped from C130 and other transport aircraft into remote areas where landing strips are not available. The vehicle is equipped to transport troops and cargo, as required. It has a payload capacity of 6,000 pounds and to facilitate loading/unloading, the bed side rails are mounted on hinges. The cargo bed comes equipped with a removable bench seat kit for troop transport. D14500 - The Medium Tactical Vehicle (MTV) family includes cargo, tractor, van, wrecker, chassis, load handling system and dump truck models. All the FMTV variants have an armor capable cab designed under the Army's Long Term Armoring Strategy. The cab is designed with integrated armor in difficult to install locations and has appurtenances for the acceptance of B-kit armor panels and an Underbody Armor Kit "UAK". This cab enables the Soldier to adapt the system to the mission, threat, or new armor technologies. All models have key system components upgraded to enable the system to carry the additional armor weight while retaining its payload capacity. The M1083A2 8 Ton Cargo Truck is designed to transport cargo and Soldiers. Bed side rails are mounted on hinges and can be lowered to facilitate loading. Award linkage is shown for 32 of 200 profiled companies — high- and medium-confidence USAspending matches, each row labeled; medium is the weaker evidence. why partial award coverage? →
Rows marked medium rest on evidence weaker than a program-level match, and of more than one kind. An account-based row, where the award drew from the same appropriation account as this program, is an association, not evidence that this program paid for the contract. Where the evidence is instead an FPDS acquisition-program tag or a subaward description, the program is established but which of its budget lines paid is not. An announcement link a recorded review did not leave standing is medium too. Only high rows rest on the contract naming this program with a recorded review upholding it and no recorded rejection or refutation applying.

Contractor concentration
No concentration index is published for this line. This line's high-confidence links do not clear the floor for a published concentration index — at least 3 awards across 2 contractor families holding positive obligations, with positive net linked dollars. An index below that floor is a fact about the sample, not about the market. Whatever further links this line carries are medium-confidence, and what each medium evidence path does and does not establish is set out in the methodology. Both bases are in the downloadable warehouse.
