Description
Description — Computer Ballistics: LHMBC XM32
The Lightweight Handheld Mortar Ballistic Computer (LHMBC) calculates ballistic solutions that give the 60mm, 81mm and 120mm mortar weapon system user data to aim the mortar weapon and set the charge as well as serves as the Fire Direction Center for all mortar platforms. The LHMBC communicates digitally to the Fire Support Network. All LHMBC versions provide firing computations for all calibers of mortars as well as digital messaging capability. LHMBC eliminates the need of a paper firing table, improves the accuracy of mortar ballistic calculation, and increases survivability of mortar crews by digitally connecting to the Fire Support network to receive fire missions and Fire Support Coordination Measures to conduct fratricide check. The common software (SW) design and architecture will enable seamless vehicle integration. The M32A2 LHMBC utilizes the Net Warrior (NW) Mobile/Handheld (M/HH) End User Device (EUD). The common hardware (HW) and SW architecture and design will enable seamless integration to current and future Army Platforms, weapon systems and fire control systems/subsystems. The LHMBC HW and SW addresses obsolescence and will modernize mounted and dismounted mortar weapon system and fire control system.
Justification
Justification — Computer Ballistics: LHMBC XM32
Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Base procurement dollars in the amount of $6.325 million will support the procurement of 195 Lightweight Handheld Mortar Ballistic Computer (LHMBC) M32A2 systems to include hardware, as well as the continuation of required software, logistics, fielding, and production engineering efforts. The LHMBC M32A2 computer system will be used in conjunction with common software to reduce reliance on unique hardware and operating system configurations.
