Description
Description — Common Ground Equipment
Aviation Ground Support Equipment (AGSE) Product Office develops, delivers and modernizes critical ground support equipment that enables the maintenance of both the Army's enduring fleet of rotary wing aircraft and the Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA). This is accomplished by providing aircraft diagnostic, repair and servicing capabilities essential to support aircraft maintenance and operational readiness. Priority efforts in the near term include Aviation Ground Power Unit (AGPU 1.1) and the development of an AGPU 1.1 design/modification required to support FLRAA. The AGSE portfolio consists of 24 products (45 Line Item Numbers). Continued investments in AGSE enable Army Aviation to rapidly deploy, operate and sustain operations across the globe in a multi-domain environment, supporting the National Defense Strategy and National Military Strategy.
Justification
Justification — Common Ground Equipment
FY 2026 Base procurement dollars in the amount of $29.489M will procure Aviation Ground Power Unit (AGPU) 1.1 systems. The Army Requirement Oversight Committee (AROC) approved an Army Acquisition Objective (AAO) of 157 AGPU 1.1s to support a critical capability gap (maintenance/operational) for the CH-47 and AH-64 fleet. The FY 2026 request was reduced by $0.369 million for Advisory and Assistance Services to promote efficiencies and advance the policies of the Administration in alignment with Executive Order 14222, "Implementing the President's Department of Government Efficiency Cost Efficiency Initiative." Common Ground Equipment is part of the Army Transformation Initiative. In accordance with section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (P.L. 110 - 181), this item is necessary for use by the active and reserve components of the Armed Forces for homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities.
