The vertical scale does not start at zero: the baseline sits just below this program’s smallest year, so a low point on this line is not a small amount. Read the shape for direction and the grid below for the figures.

Asked vs spent: the PB2024 book requested $82.5M for FY2024; the PB2026 book reported $638.0M as actual total obligation authority — $555.6M above the request. 638.1 − 82.5 = 555.6 USD millions — the compact figures above are rounded for reading.

Description
Description — Artillery Munitions
These munitions are all procured via Joint Program Executive Office, Armament and Ammunition (JPEO A&A) / Single Manager for Conventional Ammunition (SMCA) and the unit costs are pre-negotiated in the contract established by the SMCA. The procurements support of Force Design and Marine Corps readiness to address Littoral Operations in Contested Environments and Indo-Pacific, the Family of Artillery Munitions includes all 155MM artillery ammunition components. The 155MM artillery components are fired from M777 Howitzers, and include: primer, propellant, projectile, and fuze. **These munitions have a procurement lead-time of 48-60 months.
Justification
Justification — Artillery Munitions
FY 2026 Baseline Appropriation Request: $147.473M FY 2026 Baseline funding will support the procurement of the following 155MM ammunition: -DODIC D529 155MM High Explosive (HE) M795 w/TNT projectiles. The FY 2026 funding request is $12.874M. Which supports both training and war reserve requirements. The funding increase from FY 2025 to FY 2026 is to support procurements to replace expiring inventory and training expenditures. -DODIC DA67 CHG PROP 155MM Modular Artillery Charge System (MACS) M232A2 propellants. The FY 2026 funding request $17.557M. Which are the charges for all ammunition used in the 155MM Howitzer. The funding increase from FY 2025 to FY 2026 is due to the constrained training at the medium/high zone, therefore the training replenishment for this charge is reduced. -DODIC DD01 155MM HE Advanced Submunition XM1208 projectiles. The FY 2026 funding request is $46.905M. Which supports the replacement for Dual Purpose Improved Conventional Munitions (DPICM) rounds. -DODIC DA12 Propellant Charge 155mm, Modular Artillery Charge System M231. The FY 2026 funding request is $66.021M. The funding increase for DA12 is due to shortfalls in the inventory beginning in FY 2026 that support the fulfillment of the Total Munitions Requirement (TMR) and are required to replenish munitions expended through the year in support of training, deployment preparation and readiness, service life and other testing requirements. Starting with PB26, the cost elements were consolidated to complete round/total hardware and production support costs to be in line with other budget line items. FY 2026 Baseline funding for the engineering support in production of the following 155MM ammunition: -DODIC D528 155MM M825 WP Smoke projectiles. The FY 2026 funding request is $1.069M. The increase from FY 2025 to FY 2026 is to provide screening capability to obscure friendly troop and vehicle moves. -DODIC DA66 155MM M1121 WP Smoke projectiles. The FY 2026 funding request is $1.047M. The decrease from FY 2025 to FY 2026 is to provide an extended range capability over the legacy D550. -DODIC N340 M739A1 Point Detonating (PD) Fuzes. The FY 2026 funding request is $.995M. The decrease in funding from FY 2025 to FY 2026 supports the primary training fuze for all 155MM rounds. -DODIC NA37 M1156 Precision Guidance Kit (PGK) Fuzes. The FY 2026 funding request is $1.005M. The decrease in funding from FY 2025 to FY 2026 provides a first-of-its-kind "near-precision" capability with M-code GPS. The cost elements are consolidated to complete round/total hardware and production support costs to be in line with other budget line items. Additionally, removing the component breakout provides clear visibility of the final deliverable quantities and total unit costs.
