The vertical scale does not start at zero: the baseline sits just below this program’s smallest year, so a low point on this line is not a small amount. Read the shape for direction and the grid below for the figures.

Asked vs spent: the PB2024 book requested $15.9M for FY2024; the PB2026 book reported $19.8M as actual total obligation authority — $3.85M above the request. 19.8 − 15.9 = 3.9 USD millions — the compact figures above are rounded for reading.

Description
Description — Combat Support Munitions
In support of Force Design and Marine Corps readiness to address Littoral Operations in Contested Environments and the Indo-Pacific, the Family of Combat Support Munitions includes demolition items, handheld grenades, vehicle launched grenades, pyrotechnic devices, land mines, and non-lethal items. Demolition items provide high explosives for the purpose of destroying or altering man-made, natural objects, and/or obstacles. These explosive charges include blasting caps, impulse cartridges, block charges, shaped charges, flexible-linear charges, detonating cord, explosive sheet/cable, canine explosive scent kit items, chain cutters, military dynamite, and 12-Gauge cartridges used for Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD). Demolition munition charges are used for general demolition, cutting, breaching, cratering, and destruction of abandoned equipment/ammunition. Also included in this profile are all handheld offensive/vehicle launched grenades, pyrotechnics/simulator devices, and land mines used by Marine Corps ground forces. This budget also includes colored/obscuration/irritant smoke grenades, and various pyrotechnics devices used in training to simulate battlefield effects. Additionally, this budget line item also includes non-lethal munition variants such as 12-Gauge cartridges, 40MM cartridges, and the diversionary/non-lethal hand grenades. These munitions are intended to incapacitate, warn or drive off targeted personnel and/or materiel while minimizing permanent injury to personnel and damage to property in the target area and/or environment. *These munitions are procured either via Joint Program Executive Office, Armament and Ammunition (JPEO A&A)/Single Manager for Conventional Ammunition (SMCA) or Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, IN.(NSWC, Crane), using contracts, that consolidate all Services buys into their procurement contract actions. **These munitions have a procurement lead-time of 12-36 months before delivery.
Justification
Justification — Combat Support Munitions
FY 2026 Baseline Budget Request: $12.936M FY 2026 Baseline funding is required to support procurement of various combat support munitions to include Cartridge, 12 Gauge EOD, Blank (DODIC AABK), Cartridge, 12-Gauge EOD Nitro Turkey (DODIC DWNT), Grenade, Hand Smoke Green M18, (DODIC G940), Grenade, Hand Smoke Yellow M18, (DODIC G945), Grenade, Hand CS M7A3, (DODIC G963), Grenade, Hand Smoke White M83, (DODIC G982), Grenade, Hand, Offensive, Scalable, MK21 MOD0, (DODIC GG41), Grenade, Fuze, Practice Grenade MK1 MOD0 (DODIC GG44), Simulator, Projectile Ground Burst, M115A2 (DODIC L594), Cartridge, Signal and Illumination, White Star (DODIC LA44), MK1 MOD0 Military Dog Scent Kit (DODIC MDSK), Detonating Cord (DODIC M456), Linear Charges, M58 (DODIC M913), Inert Linear Charge M68A2 (DODIC M914), Charge, Demolition, Flexible Linear Shape, 225 Grains Per Foot, (DODIC MM46), Charge, Demolition, Flexible Linear Shape, 400 Grains Per Foot, (DODIC MM47), Mine, Antipersonnel Obstacle Breaching System MK7 MOD1 (APOBS),(DODIC MN79), and Cap, Blasting, Dual In-Line Initiator, (DODIC MN88), Bangalore Torpedo Demo Kit M1A2 (DODIC M028). All items procured will support required annual and pre-deployment training, as well as Combat Operations. This funding also provides Engineering Support in Production (ESIP) costs for DODIC's listed above for delivery of prior year procurements. ESIP costs support engineering functions on produced units which includes configuration management, First Article Testing (FAT), Lot Acceptance Testing (LAT), and support for items currently in production, and/or post-production delivery. Additionally, this funding addresses any changes to Form, Fit, and Function in design, assuring this ammunition is of the highest quality, and deals with any manufacturing concerns during these processes. The $8.790M budget decrease from FY 2025 to FY 2026 is due to a reduction in out-year annual training requirements within the Total Munitions Requirement.
