Description — Hellfire Sys Summary
The HELLFIRE II and HELLFIRE Longbow family of precision-guided air-to-ground missile systems provide a rotary and fixed-wing UAS precision-strike capability for use against high-value targets, including heavy and advanced armor as well as an array of traditional and non-traditional target sets. HELLFIRE is the most prolific air-to-ground missile system fielded for use by the Army and Joint Services, Partner Nations, and FMS attack helicopters and fixed-wing UAS platforms. HELLFIRE II missiles utilize a semi-active laser guidance section for missile guidance and are the primary armament of Army's AH-64 Apache, Army UAS, and Special Operations Aviation Regiment aircraft. HELLFIRE improvements include a multi-purpose warhead, which reduced the number of missile variants/logistics-footprint required for Army Aviation mission planning, and a variable electronic fuze which provides "height-of-burst" selection capability to the operator/User. HELLFIRE Longbow missiles (no longer in production) utilize an MMW, radar guidance section for missile guidance, which provides the User with "beyond line-of-sight" and "fire-and-forget" capability, as well as capability in adverse weather and obscured battlefield conditions. The HELLFIRE Longbow utilizes the same motor and control section (backend) as the HELLFIRE II variant. US Army has discontinued HELLFIRE procurement in FY24 in line with the Army Aviation Lethality Strategy.

Justification — Hellfire Sys Summary
C70000 Hellfire System has no FY 2026 funding. In accordance with Section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (P.L. 110-181), this item is necessary for use by the active and reserve components of the Armed Forces for homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses and providing military support to civil authorities.
