Description — Air Defense Targets
Air Defense Artillery (ADA) Targets program procures target hardware and associated training devices to include scoring, payload, and ground support equipment to provide equipment to facilitate Air Defense Artillery Soldiers and units to conduct required training. This training consists of Department of the Army Pamphlet (DA PAM) 350-38 (Standards in Training Commission) required gunnery tables and aerial target tracking, training, and scoring. Target systems are also available to support collective training exercises and Force Development Test and Experimentation (FDT&E) investigations of engagement techniques against small unmanned aircraft systems.
Justification
Justification — Air Defense Targets
FY 2026 Base procurement funding of $12.801 million supports Air Defense Artillery (ADA) target systems used in training per DA PAM 350-38, Standards in Weapons Training. This includes gunnery tables, aerial target tracking with Captive Flight Trainers (CFT) and Tracking Head Trainers (THT), and missile live-fire exercises when missiles are allocated under the Missile Distribution Plan. Supported systems include U.S. Army Avenger and M-SHORAD platforms worldwide. Training requirements are generated by Army Major Commands, Training Centers, Division-level Commands, and real-world mission rehearsals. These have been validated against current force restructuring and align with approved training doctrine and Army Regulation 220-1 for unit readiness and Soldier qualification. Per Section 1815 of the FY 2008 NDAA (P.L. 110-181), this procurement supports both active and reserve components for homeland defense and global contingency missions. The reduced quantity reflects evolving requirements and use of Interim Contract Support (ICS).
