Description
Description — U-2 Mods
The U-2S Dragon Lady platform is a high-demand/low-density aircraft equipped with modular sensor and data link systems providing flexibility and mission essential Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) to the Combatant Commands, Joint and Combined forces, and the Intelligence Community in peacetime and wartime. The program supports core missions such as Sensitive Reconnaissance Operations (outlined in CJCSI 3250.01) supporting the National Defense Strategy, in addition to other missions that include execution of CCMD OPLANs and CONPLANs, Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Response (HADR), Counter Violent Extremist Organizations, and third-party treaty verification/monitoring via the OLIVE HARVEST mission. Procurement funds were used to procure the Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar System (ASARS). There are no requirements for ASARS procurement in Fiscal Year 2026. The FY 2026 request for U-2 Mods includes $0.000 thousand of discretionary and $0.000 thousand of mandatory (reconciliation) for a total of $0.000. There are no U-2 Mods FY 2026 RDT&E mandatory funds
Justification
Justification — U-2 Mods
FY26 budget reflects budgeted U-2 divestiture in FY26 with procurement funds shifted to the ARS PE. Some of these funds may be obligated by the U-2 program office in support of ASARS-2C kitting and fielding and Avionics Technical Refresh efforts, which are a prerequisite to fielding ASARS-2C.
