Description
Description — Direct Support Munitions
The Direct Support Munitions budget supports a family of shoulder launched rockets. The AT4 Confined Space - Reduced Sensitivity (AT4CS-RS) and M72A8/A10 Fire from Enclosure (FFE) Lightweight Assault Weapon (LAW) rockets provide lightweight weapons mainly employed against and optimized to defeat light armored vehicles and other hard targets at close combat ranges. They can be employed from an enclosure or the open battlefield as assault weapons against bunkers, field fortifications, structures and other hard-point positions. Additionally, training launchers and sub-caliber practice rockets that fully simulate firing are also included. The Direct Support Munitions budget also provides the family of ammunition for the highly versatile Carl-Gustaf system, a true multi-role, man-portable, shoulder-fired weapon. The system offers various types of ammunition ranging from armor penetration and anti-personnel to ammunition for built-up areas, as well as special features including smoke and illumination. **These munitions are procured via Joint Program Executive Office, Armament and Ammunition (JPEO A&A) / Single Manager for Conventional Ammunition (SMCA) contracts, who consolidate all services buys into their procurement actions. **These munitions have a procurement lead-time of 24-48 months
Justification
Justification — Direct Support Munitions
FY 2026 Baseline Appropriation Request: $26.729M FY 2026 Baseline funding supports the procurement of several direct support munitions, including the 66MM Anti-Structure Lightweight Assault Weapon (LAW) FFE Anti-Structure (AS) (DODIC HB25), 66MM High Explosive Anti-Armor Rocket (HB26), the 84MM Carl-Gustaf family of ammunition, 84MM AT4CS-RS (CA30) and the 7.62MM Tracer (TR) Cartridge (A254). The decrease of $5.008M from FY 2025 to FY 2026 results from reductions to meet TMR required quantities for the following DODICS: A254, AC05, CA30, CA36, and HB25. The following DODICS realized increases from FY2025 to FY2026 to provide for War Reserve Material Requirement and training requirements in support of fleet Marine Force Operational requirements: C385, C386, CA20, CA27, CA41, CA51, CA21, and HB26.
