Description
Description — LCS Class Support Equipment
The Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Class Support Equipment line procures long-lead major end items and the connective equipment necessary to ensure fit and function required for repairs, and associated engineering, technical, and transportation support services for both LCS variants, Freedom and Independence. The items procured increase availability of vital Fleet assets by reducing repair part procurement and delivery times. LN001 - LCS Battle Spares This line procures shore-based LCS Class Support Equipment (Battle Spares), ensuring their availability in the event of a failure or major casualty to key ship systems. Battle Spares are major end items available on an as need basis to meet Fleet requirements. Inventory objectives are determined by Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RM&A) data, the critical application of equipment, and input from the LCS technical community. LN002 - LCS Water Jet Spares This line procures LCS Water Jets and associated propulsion components for both LCS variants. The configurations vary between ships; there are five Water Jet configurations. Water Jet assemblies are designated as Battle Spares and support a rotatable pool for life cycle sustainment. LN003 - Engineering Services This line funds engineering, technical and transportation support for LCS Class Support Equipment. Services include the establishment of Technical Data Packages (TDPs), the creation of associated depot level repair parts lists/installation requirements, and transportation services. LN006 - LCS Ships Class Ancillary Equipment This funding procures the connective equipment necessary to ensure fit and function of procured LCS Class Support Equipment (Battle Spares) when installed.
Justification
Justification — LCS Class Support Equipment
The FY2026 request supports procurement of multiple, lesser cost LCS Battle Spares. Battle Spares include: Multi. Aircraft Nose & Tailgear Integrated System (MANTIS), Ships Service Diesel Generator (Freedom Variant) and Engineering Services. Mitigation of long lead times for repairs through procurements of adequate battle spares using failure data allows for continued progress toward mainstreaming and normalizing LCS platform sustainment. The FY 2026 request was reduced by $.003 million for Advisory and Assistance Services to promote efficiencies and advance the policies of the Administration in alignment with Executive Order 14222, "Implementing the President's Department of Government Efficiency Cost Efficiency Initiative."
