Description
Mission — Information Technology Rapid Acquisition
This program supports the Department's initiative to modernize critical legacy information technology (IT) portfolio management systems and develop strategies and initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of IT investments across the DoD information enterprise. The current systems (Select and Native Programming Data Input System – Information Technology (SNaP-IT), Department of Defense Information Technology Investment Portal (DITIP), and DoD Information Technology Portfolio Repository (DITPR)) were developed as standalone applications/systems to meet specific data requirements, which results in data inaccuracy and inconsistency. The modernization effort includes developing business process maps, system design diagrams, and data dictionaries, which will form the baseline to analyze processes, data, and system redundancies and required improvements across the various systems. The modernization effort will achieve an integrated IT portfolio management process and a more homogenous data and reporting environment, which delivers timely, accurate, and transparent information to leadership. This program element also supports developing information enterprise strategies, policies, architectures, and deliver DoD’s software modernization implementation-plan, while also streamlining business systems.
