Description
Description — Other Ship Gun Ammunition
Program provides for Other Ship Gun Ammunition which consists of medium caliber types (20MM, 25MM, 30MM, 40MM). This supports Navy ships, and active and reserve ashore warfare forces including Naval Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC), Mobile Security Forces (MSF), fleet combat readiness groups, inshore undersea warfare groups and several other types of operational units. Program includes support for emergent anti-terrorism/force protection and homeland defense requirements. Program provides for Other Ship Gun Ammunition support for Naval Special Warfare (NSW) service common munitions which are required to provide US Navy SEAL teams, NSW small tactical units and task groups, and Special Boat Teams with a fire power advantage, area target engagement, standoff and extended range capability, as well as an anti-armor capability. This includes medium caliber mortars (20MM - 81MM) and Javelin. These munitions provide NSW an essential force protection capability and increases the combat power of NSW tactical elements.

Justification — Other Ship Gun Ammunition
FY 2026 baseline funding procures 20MM ammunition used for ship defense in MK15 Close-In Weapon System, 25MM ammunition used for Fast Attack Craft/Fast Attack In-Shore Craft (FAC/FIAC) defense in MK38 Machine Gun System on all platforms other than LPD and LCS, and 30MM ammunition used for FAC/FIAC defense in MK46 MOD 2 Gun Weapon System on LPD and LCS. Baseline funding also provides Production Engineering and Gauge requirements for 20MM, 25MM, and 30MM ammunition. FY 2026 baseline funding procures grenades, 60mm mortar ammunition, and Javelin missile equipment. Baseline funding also provides Production Engineering for Naval Special Warfare (NSW). FY 2025 matches the Base for Reprogramming Actions, DD 1414 and does not include supplemental funding from Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024 (Division A of Public Law 118-50) or Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024 (Division B of Public Law 118-50). In FY 2025, DON has received $21.396 million for the procurement of Other Ship Gun Ammunition (Ukraine) for the replacement of Navy stock. 20MM from 20,000 to 80,100 25MM from 112,163 to 259,900 30MM from 8,766 to 17,929 40MM from 0 to 90,000
