The vertical scale does not start at zero: the baseline sits just below this program’s smallest year, so a low point on this line is not a small amount. Read the shape for direction and the grid below for the figures.

Asked vs spent: the PB2024 book requested $41.3M for FY2024; the PB2026 book reported $27.9M as actual total obligation authority — $13.4M below the request. 27.9 − 41.3 = -13.4 USD millions — the compact figures above are rounded for reading.

Description
Description — Intermediate Caliber Gun Ammo
Program provides for intermediate caliber family of fixed ammunition for United States Navy and United States Coast Guard (USCG) use. The Navy's primary use for intermediate caliber ammunition is to engage both surface and air targets. USCG primary use is for drug interdiction, homeland defense, and Visit, Board, Search and Seize (VBSS). Intermediate caliber ammunition is currently employed on the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), and the USCG National Security Cutter. It will be used on the USN Constellation-class Frigate and the USCG Offshore Patrol Cutter.
Justification
Justification — Intermediate Caliber Gun Ammo
57mm ammunition supports the MK 110 Gun Mount providing essential Anti-Air Warfare, Anti-Surface Warfare, and Fast Attack Craft/Fast In-Shore Attack Craft (FAC/FIAC) defense capabilities for USN LCS and USCG National Security Cutter platforms. The program also supports future integration onto the USN Constellation-class Frigate and USCG Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC) platforms. Program resources support new inventory procurement, acceptance testing, production engineering support, ammunition inspection gauge requirements, and product improvement for existing 57MM cartridges. AL100: 2.3) CART., 57MM, 3P MK295 (BA22) procurement is prioritized in FY2024, FY2025, and FY2026 to ensure continued availability of proximity-fuzed 57mm ammunition. This action strategically addresses inventory needs, optimizing the use of existing, proven technology to provide effectiveness against a variety of surface and aerial targets. Funding is reallocated from 2.7) CART., 57MM TP MK337 (BA63) and 2.8) CART., 57MM, HE-PD MK338 (BA64) in FY2024. FY2025 and FY2026 funding previously allocated to 2.5) ALaMO MK332 is reallocated to 2.3) CART., 57MM, 3P MK295 (BA22). FY2025 funding from 2.7) CART., 57MM TP MK337 (BA63) is also reduced to support the procurement of this item. This effort ensures uninterrupted operational readiness with proximity-fuzed ammunition. AL100: FY2025 and FY2026 procurements of 2.5) ALaMO MK332 (BA59) are eliminated due to the need for design updates and resources are refocused on the readily available 2.3) CART., 57MM, 3P MK295 (BA22). This strategic shift ensures a consistent inventory of proximity-fuzed 57mm cartridges, guaranteeing continuous defense capabilities against a diverse range of surface and aerial threats. This approach maximizes near-term operational effectiveness by leveraging proven capabilities. AL100: FY2024 and FY2025 2.7) CART., 57MM TP MK337 (BA63) quantities are adjusted to align with available contract ceiling resulting from Foreign Military Sales orders. The efficient use of contract capacity also supports increased procurement of CART., 57MM, 3P MK295 (BA22). AL100: FY2024 2.8) CART., 57MM, HE-PD MK338 (BA64) is adjusted to reflect enacted budget.

Contractor concentration
No concentration index is published for this line. This line's high-confidence links do not clear the floor for a published concentration index — at least 3 awards across 2 contractor families holding positive obligations, with positive net linked dollars. An index below that floor is a fact about the sample, not about the market. Whatever further links this line carries are medium-confidence, and what each medium evidence path does and does not establish is set out in the methodology. Both bases are in the downloadable warehouse.
