Description
Description — JOINT EFFECTS TARGETING SYSTEM (JETS)
The Joint Effects Targeting System (JETS) supports the Army's fires sensor strategy and is aligned with the Army's priorities in support of the National Defense Strategy. The JETS satisfies the requirement for the dismounted precision targeting sensor for the individual observer. The system provides the individual dismounted observer with an integrated, lightweight, modular capability to detect, identify, and accurately locate targets in three dimensions. The JETS also provides the capability to laser mark and designate targets for weapons platforms and transmits accurate target location coordinates to a forward entry system for engagement with precision munitions. The JETS is an Army program with joint interest with the Air Force and Marine Corps. The program will be awarding a production contract for the JETS II variant in FY 2026 which will incorporate improved targeting sensors, targeting algorithms, and a Military-Code (M-Code) GPS receivers while reducing size, weight and power requirements. The Army Acquisition Objective (AAO) for JETS is 3,355.
Justification
Justification — JOINT EFFECTS TARGETING SYSTEM (JETS)
FY 2026 Base procurement dollars in the amount of $48.715 million supports the Low Rate Initial Production procurement, new equipment training and fielding for 42 Joint Effects Targeting System (JETS) II systems. In accordance with section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (P.L. 110 - 181), this item is necessary for use by the active and reserve components of the Armed Forces for homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities.
