Description
Mission — AMRAAM
The Joint Advanced Tactical Missile (JATM), designated the AIM-260A, is a high speed, long range, air dominance missile designed to defeat current and projected enemy air threats. JATM is compatible with Air Force and Navy aircraft and is critical to preserving our nation's air dominance capability for the future. JATM is a joint Air Force and Navy program with the Air Force as the lead service. Funding supports development activities associated with the JATM program. These activities include development as well as system improvement, developmental and operational test, and continued threshold platform integration. Funding will also continue science and technology (S&T) and risk reduction efforts to mature critical technologies and packaging designs for future JATM improvements and will enhance system performance to defeat pacing threats through targeted hardware and software enhancements. Notes: This program is reported in accordance with Title 10, United States Code, Section 119(a)(1) in the Special Access Program Annual Report to Congress. For further information, please contact the Director of Special Programs, OUSD(A&S)/DSP. This program is in Budget Activity 7, Operational System Development because this budget activity includes development efforts to upgrade systems that have been fielded or have received approval for full rate production and anticipate production funding in the current or subsequent fiscal year.
