Description
Mission — (U) COLLABORATIVE COMBAT AIRCRAFT
USMC Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) is an uncrewed aircraft that enhances the survivability and lethality of the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF), complimenting the service's current 4th/5th Generation Tactical Aircraft (TACAIR) capability. The uncrewed weapons systems under development will enhance Marine Corps Aviation's lethality and ability to support the Stand-in Force (SiF) by delivering air-to-ground, reconnaissance, and Electronic Warfare (EW) capabilities. This Program Element leverages OSD Rapid Defense Experimentation Reserve (RDER) investments to rapidly field an uncrewed aircraft capable of collaborative effects with expeditionary manned aircraft (current 4th/5th Generation TACAIR) and amphibious forces as part of the Joint Force. Key attributes include enhanced survivability of tactical manned aircraft, integrated autonomy and improved lethality against near-peer/peer threats. Program activities include employment of digital acquisitions via digital engineering, agile software development, and open systems architecture. Funding provides information technology/test/training/infrastructure investments, operational concept exploration, technology studies, multi-domain integration, operational assessments, architecture development, and multi-level prototyping towards a Minimum Viable Product (MVP), as well as program management support. This effort also reduces risk towards enhanced technology development, integration and demonstration. JUSTIFICATION FOR BUDGET ACTIVITY: This program is funded under ADVANCED COMPONENT DEVELOPMENT AND PROTOTYPES because it includes all efforts necessary to evaluate integrated technologies, representative models or prototype systems in a high fidelity and realistic operating environment.
Mission — MUX TACAIR Increment I
MAGTF Unmanned Aerial System Expeditionary Tactical Aircraft (MUX TACAIR) is a component of the USMC initiative to field a Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) capability that supports mass buildup of a Joint Force against a peer/near-peer adversary. Project efforts focus on operations from austere Expeditionary Advanced Basing Operations (EABO) airfields in support of Marine Littoral Regiment (MLR) and/or Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) operations serving as the Stand in Force (SiF) for a Joint Force, providing lethal and flexible support to support from the land and sea. This project increases MAGTF lethality, capacity and interoperability in the reconnaissance and electronic warfare mission areas, complementing existing and future TACAIR capabilities and enhancing combat reach into the INDOPACOM Area of Responsibility (AoR), or wherever enhanced, stand-off lethality is needed by the Joint Force. MUX TACAIR will increase the survivability, lethality, interoperability, and sustainability of the Marine Corps in support of the Joint Force.
