Description
Description — Indirect Fire Protection Family Of Systems
The Counter-Rocket, Artillery and Mortar (C-RAM) Enhancements line (H30504) provides the Land-based Phalanx Weapon System (LPWS) C-RAM capability to the Indirect Fire Protection Capability (IFPC)/Avenger Battalions, 5-5 and 2-44 Air Defense Artillery. The LPWS consists of a trailer-mounted, high rate of fire 20mm Gatling gun guided by input from its integrated search and tracking radar and Forward Looking Infrared receiver. It includes two 60 kW generators and a Local Control Station, also mounted on the trailer, as well as a Remote Control Station. The LPWS protects high value ground assets from incoming munitions, such as RAM, as well as unmanned aerial systems (UAS). Overseas Operations Costs (OOC) funds this requirement in FY 2026.
Justification
Justification — Indirect Fire Protection Family Of Systems
FY 2026 funding in the amount of $27.881M will procure 3 LPWS systems in support of the enduring war requirement for Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR). Unit prices reflect an assessed yearly Navy procurement of LPWS. In the event Navy procurements do not occur at this level, the budgeted LPWS unit price may not be achievable.
